On Day 2 of spring break we celebrated Easter!
In the craziness of the day I forgot to take the final cooked version, but you get the idea!
I was in charge of making scalloped potatoes and a strawberry asparagus salad! So yummy.
Then off to grandma and grandpa Mohler's house for dinner with all the family.
Now, my in-laws do and egg hunt...or on many years, because we live in the wet world of the northwest, we do an indoor basket hunt. Either way it is a blast and the kids have a fantastic time!
My in-laws do egg hunts in the best manner on the face of the planet. No fighting over eggs...everyone ends up with an equal amount...it is perfect! Here is how to pull it off!
- each grandchild receives a colored ribbon, which is tied onto their wrist.
- each plastic egg (when the hunt is outside) has a snippet of an individual ribbon sticking out of the closure.
- kids can only collect the eggs with their coordinating ribbons. Grandma always has a list with the grandchildrens names and a snippet of the ribbon attached by everyones name,so she does not forget what color belongs to each person.
- When it is time to hide the eggs, the kids all go into a room where they can't see the process and parents hide the eggs according to their age. So, the itty bitty kids have eggs that are easy to find, and the teenagers are hidden really hard.
This way everyone has a really enjoyable time, without the big kids ruining the fun for the littles, and the big kids actually have to work to find theirs! No one is to tell someone if they find someone elses egg, because that would ruin the fun.
When the hunt is inside we simply tie the ribbon onto each basket and hide the basket with the eggs. It si still played the same way and is fun.
But I think they would all agree they like it best when it is outside!
