Reading

I have been busy reading some GREAT books. The books I am reading are books my oldest will be reading in the fall for 6th grade. I like to pre-read all of the books she will read for the school year so that we can have great discussions about them. I am a huge fan of children's literature and highly recommend reading the following titles:

 

The Bronze Bow

A tale based on ancient history and the choice a young boy has as to who he should follow.

 

A Proud Taste for Scarlet and Miniver

A wonderful tale about Eleanor of Aquitaine and her life. It is told with humor and is completely fascinating.

Mary, Bloody, Mary

The title here made me not so eager to read this book...but this book is WONDERFUL! It tells the story of Mary through her own perspective and feelings toward Anne Boelyn. Fascinating story.

I have read a couple other books as well, but these are my favorite so far. I will continue reading and posting favorites.

 

Library Day!

Today is library day! That is right almost every day on Wednesday, we head over to the library.

My kids love to hop on-line and place books on hold. And they are very excited when the email arrives and informs them their book is ready for them on the shelf.

I love the LIBRARY. And today I am hoping to see what their summer reading schedule is looking like. Yes, I am one of those moms that make my kids read all summer. But, let's face it they have over the years learned to LOVE reading! So, it is not much of a struggle.

Borders has a FANTASTIC summer reading program for kids this summer. Check out their website and download the form. All kids need to do is read ten books and then they can get a free book ( from a specific selection)! Check it out.

 A great incentive to read this summer.
