100 Life Changing Moments Inspiration

I was searching through a chest looking for photos and an article from my first play I was in as a child. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did find some COOL old stuff!

In a metallic bag I found a pile of newspaper articles, rotary awards, and old report cards of my mom's! There were a couple of letters a snippet of my baby hair, and even an old pharmacy baby book that was partially filled in.

There were also a couple of photos. A photo of my mom and her BFF Judy, the others in the photo I do not recognize. So, I guess I will not work on my play moment, but instead will work on the moment when I lost my mom. It's time I did this page...and now I can include more of her life on it.

I never know what will inspire me when I am working on my 100 Moments project. I just know I love the inspiration when it arrives.

Those working on the 100 Moments project, I invite you to rummage through some old stuff...photos, memorabilia, whatever and see what inspires you.

Inspiration is good!

Back to school finds.

Working Wednesday

I am working on:

1. A new 100 moments page.
2. My fall canvas art home decor.
3. Something fun.
4. Getting ready for a Mohler family reunion picnic this afternoon!

Busy working today...so I will think of my time at the beach.

I like to organize what I am working on mid week. How about you? What are you working on or towards? Today is a good day to get a good perspective on where you are headed.

My summer and guest blogging!

 

Yeah, I got some answers and now I can upload images again!!! So, here is a recap of my summer. First we terrified my three girls as we hiked to Olympic Hot Springs and they had to walk over this CRAZY log bridge. I truly was not certain the three of them would actually walk across, but they were proud of their accomplishment once they did.

We enjoyed the hot springs, while my oldest was completely disgusted by the smell of sulfu and wanted to be know where near the pools!

The pools were shallow and clear and my two youngest were loving the hot water on their sore feet.

There were beautiful wild flowers every where. Which I just LOVE!

We also went on a hike to Sol Duc Falls which all of my girls said was their FAVORITE hike this summer. Easy hike with a GREAT pay off!

I truly LOVE waterfalls. I think every where we went I was calling out to the kids whenever I saw a trickle of a waterfall.

Sol Duc Falls ran through this cool narrow gorge. Simply breath taking!

It was fun just spending time with my family. I really enjoyed the uninterrupted time we had together.

We also went to the Hoh Rainforest and did a little hike there as well. The trees were stunning and this spruce tree is immense!

I haven't disappeared, just taking a break.

No, I have not fallen off the face of the planet! I have fallen though and I seriously sprained my ankle. It is a funny story now, but painful at the time. I am still wearing a boot on my foot 4 weeks after my fall down the stairs, and will be back at the doctor this Friday.

Since I have been instructed to keep off my foot I have not been able to do much since this little accident. I do have a project I put together the day of my accident that I am going to put a little video together and share with you all later this week.

This past weekend my family rented a wheel chair for me and took me to the Spring Fair so we could see our kids art work they had submitted. Plus, the girls enterd the egg drop contest and Natalie won 3rd place in her age division. She is excited. Here is a little video of her first drop!

 

She is so excited and we are excited for her!

Refreshing Monday.

 
On a cold day today I a will be:

1. Finishing my Illustrate Your Life page.
2. Help my kids finish their sewing projects, more on this to come.
3. Revamp my homeschooling schedule...it is mid year and time to re-evaluate where we are.
4. Work on some cute craft and sewing projects.

Loving today, even the cold, grey skies outside.

 

 

 

Tasty Tuesday

 

In the spirit of a healthy New Year I thought I would share a salad I am eating this week. Yes, I said week, because it is that good! I found the salad recipe at The Tasty Kitchen and opted to not use the pomegranate seeds this week, and guess what it is still divine!

 

I made my own salad dressing, which is wonderful on this salad.

Raspberry Vinegrette

Here are the ingredients:

1 T. hot stone ground mustard

3/4 Cup vegetable oil

3 cloves or garlic -  finely minced

1/4 C raspberry vinegar

1/4 C. Seasoned rice vinegar

Costco's No Salt seasoning

Whisk garlic, mustard and oil together...adding the oil gradually. It will be a beautiful creamy mixture.

Add vinegar and seasoning and whisk.

This dressing will keep in your fridge for up to a week.

 

Yummy! I think I am off to make another of these for lunch this afternoon!

Happy New Year!

Welcome 2011!

I am completely excited about the idea of having a fresh start and that includes a new word to kick off the New Year! Ali Edwards has been doing this for several years now and this is the second year I am joining in.

My word for the year is EXPERIENCE. This word found me as I spent the last few months of 2010 discussing how I want to experience more with my family. I want LESS stuff and more memorable moments. That is why at Christmas the entire family received season ski passes. My youngest on Christmas morning said, “Mom, we didn’t get that many toys this year.”  No, they didn’t. Most everything under our tree was ski gear… plus one toy, one book, and stockings. Less stuff that will soon be forgotten, but an entire winter season of our family together, experiencing the mountains, snow and skiing!

 

 

I am wondering how many directions this new word will take me this year. I am excited to find out.

Gingerbread Houses

This is another Christmas experience I am doing with my family next week...and the book the idea comes from as a Christmas gift. My find of the week is the book No-Bake Gingerbread Houses For Kids.

So, if you know me just a little, then you know I am all about saving sanity and enjoying all life has to offer. I think that this little book is perfect for doing just that! How stinkin' cool is creating gingerbread houses with all premade cookies, graham crackers and supplies. And this little book is filled with easy to follow directions. LOVE this!

I LOVE that this book is filled with little houses that can be made for any season of the year. My girls will be all over making houses after the Christmas season.

 
And how cool is it to make a house that is different than most gingerbread houses? Beautiful.

Scanner Woes...Illustrate it!

So, I am still having scanner issues...this is just not fun. Good news is I can return my scanner, get a new one. Just not in time to post my Illustrate it Friday photos and layout.

Good news is that I have a story and I know what pictures I am using, plus I have my story printed and most photos printed. It feels good to be prepared and by the end of the weekend I hope to have my new scanner up and functioning. Sigh.

Completely loving this holiday season. Today I am taking my girls to a darling little place called the Java Clay Cafe. We are headed there to create some Christmas gifts for family members. Should be LOTS of fun.
